Benefits and challenges of cloud analytics for companies using SAP.

Cloud analytics has become an integral part of companies’ strategy to improve their decision making and performance. As they seek to manage large amounts of data, cloud analytics solutions offer a scalable and flexible way to effectively analyze and visualize data.

    1. Accessibility: They allow access to data more effectively and from anywhere and at any time. This improves the efficiency and productivity of companies.
    2. Scalability: They are scalable and can handle data growth and user demand without requiring additional investment in hardware and software.
    3. Flexibility: They are flexible and can be customized to suit a company’s specific needs. This makes it much simpler to adopt very advanced technologies.
    4. Collaboration: They allow users to collaborate and share information more efficiently. This improves business productivity and enables more informed decision making. In addition, they can be viewed on any device.
    5. Cost: They have a lower cost of ownership than traditional analytics software solutions. This allows companies to save money on hardware and software and focus on improving data interpretation and decision making at a business level.

However, there are also challenges that must be considered before adopting a cloud analytics solution, some of these are as follows:

    1. Security: Data security is one of the biggest challenges when using cloud analytics solutions. Clouds have developed best practices to ensure security, however, any analytics solution must consider these in design and operation.
    2. Integration: Integrating cloud analytics solutions with a company’s existing applications and systems is central to the data strategy. Depending on their characteristics there are different tools that should be considered.
    3. Reliability: The reliability of cloud analytics solutions depends on the ability to generate a continuous and automated data pipeline.

At Novis we have developed a service that creates a continuous and secure data pipeline from SAP that is stored in a data lake in the cloud. There it can be integrated with data from other sources and reverted to SAP for different business processes.

In conclusion, cloud analytics offers a scalable and flexible way to effectively analyze and visualize data. However, there are also challenges that must be considered before adopting a cloud analytics solution, including security, integration and reliability, and cost. Managing those challenges will allow you to take advantage of its benefits of accessibility, scalability, flexibility, collaboration, and lower cost of ownership.
