Universidad Católica del Maule begins using SAP S/4 HANA

Universidad Católica del Maule (UCM, Catholic University of Maule) – an institution accredited for 5 years and subscribed to the free tuition program – is very satisfied with the progress of its digital transformation strategy. The Titan (Transferencia Tecnológica Institucional, Institutional Technology Transfer) project seeks to modernize its management and operation processes, as well as respond more efficiently to the internal and external demands, with high quality standards.

The last step in the SAP® solutions implementation began with a milestone: on Monday 6, 2020, the new platform for financial-accounting processes went live on the SAP S/4HANA® platform.

In an event held to mark the occasion, Dr. Diego Durán Jara, UCM’s President, emphasized that this educational institution “Continues to advance on the path towards the modernization of institutional management systems. The accomplishment of this milestone is owed to a great team, comprised of people from different areas, who have worked with full dedication. This is the first step for Titan and a big step for this regional university, for it will allow us to reinforce our commitment with the country’s development, by a comprehensive education of people, research, and technological transfer, promoting critical thinking and the spirit of service,” he said.

Pablo Hormazábal, Vice-Chancellor of the campus’ Administration and Finance Office, noted that “This is a very significant milestone, because to carry out this project the institution has had to learn new skills, which in turn will be valuable in achieving the institutional goal of being a globalized university of excellence “.

As we discussed in the article “Universidad Católica del Maule, major technological leap with Titan, their SAP project”, in October 2018, the UCM officially launched this important institutional initiative to modernize its systems, management processes and operation. For this, the educational institution selected Novis as one of their strategical partners, to manage the hosting and technical operation services for the SAP solution being implemented.

The objective is to ensure a consistent, integrated, and centralized flow of information, improve traceability, standardize projects, eliminate unnecessary steps and stages, reduce excessive use of paper, for example, among other multiple operational benefits.

Novis’ solution for the hosting and technical operation of SAP solutions is based on a mature and proven service model. The service, which includes S/4 HANA and SAP Process Orchestration® (SAP PO) hosting, will be provided from Novis’ virtual hosting, lodged in a private cloud, and certified by SAP. The service also includes technical support, a disaster recovery solution, and everything necessary for the proper operation of the Universidad Católica del Maule’s mission-critical systems. It is a comprehensive service, with only one responsible party and contract, entirely managed by Novis.

We will keep you informed about this project’s new achievements in future articles.
