Novis SAP AMS service now on Azure

As of 2015, we began testing the migration and operation of SAP® solutions on the Azure cloud, as we communicated in the article ” Azure platform added to our services portfolio”.

Since last year, SAP and Microsoft announced an alliance of Preferred Cloud Partnership to simplify and facilitate clients’ journey to the cloud and accelerate the adoption of SAP S/4HANA and SAP Cloud Platform on Azure. In line with this and jointly with Microsoft Chile, we are impelling an important alliance to migrate SAP clients to Azure and to deliver SAP application operation services, or SAP AMS services, also on this public cloud.

Novis’ SAP AMS service is the most complete and advanced for the operation of SAP solutions. It has recently renewed its certification for all layers – Cloud and Infrastructure Operations, HANA Operations, Hosting Operations, and Application Operations – and for its two specialized variants: SAP Business Suite and SAP S4/HANA. You can review the details in the article “Novis, first SAP partner to be certified in SAP S4/HANA applications operation”.

The SAP AMS service, being based on a public cloud such as MS Azure, offers a series of additional advantages:

  • Higher infrastructure availability as a standard, as a natural result of distributed cloud and automatic backup concepts.
  • Easier to deploy low-cost DR solutions (Disaster Recovery), as we discuss in the article “SAP disaster recovery on Azure”.
  • Operation with close-fitting infrastructure capacity, at lower costs, with no need for oversizing.
  • Easier dynamic and over time scalability, capable of absorbing seasonal demand peaks.
  • Infrastructure cost optimization, leveraging the different pricing options offered by Azure. For example, for systems that operate only during office hours, or for historic systems which are uploaded only on demand.
  • Easier and low-cost provisioning of on demand systems for limited periods of time. For example, SAP sandboxes, project or testing environments.
  • Higher security with configuration options. Many more certifications and compliances available for all type of sensitive industries, compared to any local datacenter.
  • Lower communication costs. Direct access over the Internet, from different cities and countries, with no need for a WAN.
  • Possibility of including in the service the hosting of related non-SAP systems, or even all the company’s IT systems.
  • Possibility of replacing systems (non-SAP) by Azure services. For example, Active Directory services, DNS services, managed database services, load balancing services, etc.
  • Possibility of using all of Azure’s services portfolio, beyond the infrastructure Core Services, for innovation and digital transformation projects.
  • Advantages in the portability of existing Microsoft licenses to the cloud.

Our clients are increasingly migrating their SAP solutions to public clouds, and many already have a close relationship with Microsoft, or already use Azure.

For those who are interested in evaluating this alternative, we offer to develop jointly, with an interactive, direct, and transparent approach and guided by Microsoft, the architecture definition and economical valuation exercises for your infrastructure on Azure. Please contact us to this effect.
