Full migration for a mid-sized company

End of SAP PI/PO support: 2027. Companies that migrate sooner avoid operating in a landscape with no security patches or updates.

M. Rodríguez CTO · Industrial company · 1,200 employees · Mexico
We had over 300 interfaces on PI/PO and thought the migration would stop operations for months. The initial assessment showed us that 60% could be migrated in parallel. It was a complete change of perspective.
Our methodology

Four phases to migrate without losing control

A proven process that prioritizes operational continuity. Each stage is validated before moving on to the next.

01

Interface assessment

Full inventory of all your PI/PO interfaces: volume, criticality, dependencies. We deliver a prioritization map and a migration plan tailored to business impact.

02

Design in BTP Integration Suite

Redesign of critical interfaces as iFlows. Definition of integration patterns, error handling and observability from the start — not as an afterthought.

03

Wave-based migration

Migration in prioritized groups, keeping PI/PO active until each wave is validated in production. Controlled coexistence throughout the transition.

04

Stabilization and handover

Post-migration hypercare period, final documentation and training for the internal team to operate BTP autonomously.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before getting started

How long does a full migration take?
It depends on the number of interfaces. For mid-sized companies (50–200 interfaces), the process usually takes 4 to 7 months. The initial assessment — 3 weeks — defines the exact timeline for your case.
Can we migrate without stopping operations?
Yes. Our wave-based methodology keeps PI/PO active throughout the migration. Each interface is validated in BTP before the previous version is decommissioned. There's no big bang and no risk windows.
What about non-SAP integrations?
BTP Integration Suite supports integrations with third parties — Salesforce, Oracle, REST APIs, SFTP and more — through its prebuilt connectors and API Management capabilities. We map them in the assessment so no interface is left uncovered.
Can we integrate SAP with legacy systems on BTP?
Yes. BTP offers hybrid connectivity through the Cloud Connector, which lets you connect on-premise systems with cloud integrations securely and without opening additional ports in your network.
